Hair Straightening Tips

Tuesday, September 03, 2019

A few days ago I posted an Instagram Story showing off my crazy, kinky, frizzy hair.  I got a ton of comments and questions about what products I use to straighten my hair, so I thought I'd share my tips with you.

A few times a year, I go for a Brazilian Blowout at Robert Jason Salon (the best).  This treatment lasts for a few months and makes my hair SO much more manageable and frizz-free. It's a life-saver during the summer humidity!

In between treatments, I have found several products that literally transform my hair from out of control to straight and silky.  Here's the list:

Living Proof's Perfect Hair Day Shampoo.  I love how this product makes my hair feel squeaky clean, but not overly dry.  Because I use a straightening product, I don't like a heavy shampoo.

After shampooing, I towel dry and use a small amount of Olaplex 6 Bond Smoother.  I can't say enough about this product except that it's a miracle treatment! A little goes a long way so you don't need much (it lasts forever).  I apply it starting at the roots and working my way up to the scalp. The scalp should have the least amount of product to avoid that greasy look.
This product keeps hair frizz free and silky for up to 72 hours and makes it a breeze to blow-dry!

I use the Dyson blow-dryer to dry my hair---a huge splurge but worth every penny as it cuts frizz and dries my hair quickly.
I don't know how I ever managed without it! I blow-dry using this round brush .

To finish, I use the GHD flat iron.  My hair stylist Helen at Robert Jason Salon recommended this iron and I love it!

And there you have it...hair that's crazy and out of control to straight and silky!

Have a happy hair day!
