Did you ever had one of those days that's a mix of ups and downs? One minute things are going great, the next catastrophes. Well last Friday was one of those days for me.
The weather couldn't have been better. It hit 70 degrees in the Boston area...hard to believe for February! I needed the nice weather because I've been battling a nasty head cold and I woke up feeing horrible.
I hopped in my car-- sneezing and coughing, but enjoying the sunshine. First stop was Uncommon Threads for a meeting with Enterprise Bank and then to style a new client. But strike one. As I was getting in my car, I slammed the door on my right hand, which happens to be my dominant and already injured hand (I've been dealing with tendonitis). Ouch. Double ouch.
But what's a little pain? That never stopped me before! So I packed up my car (because I had a photo shoot in the afternoon!) and off I went.
When I got to Uncommon Threads strike 2--the garage door key fob wouldn't work. I always go through the loading dock because it's easier to unpack donations--otherwise I have to walk around the building to get in. Trudging back to my car, I dropped my water bottle. The only saving grace was that the bottle was enveloped in a rubber holder, so it contained most of the glass. Picked everything up with my bad hand...ugh.
Things have to get better, right?
And so they did. I had a morning meeting with the amazing folks at Enterprise Bank and they handed me a $1,000 donation for Uncommon Threads. Grateful, very grateful.
Thank you to Alison and Jonathan from Enterprise Bank |
After came a styling session with a lovely young woman who was going on a job interview and had nothing but leggings to wear. I fixed that. She looked like a million bucks and I felt like a fairy godmother.
Then came a photo shoot, thus this fabulous Soft Surroundings dress. Being new to the line, I didn't quite know what to expect. But I was blown away by the comfort, styling and quality of their clothes. I was also floored by their kindness. They are a clothing contributor to Uncommon Threads and they're also donating bedding to a local organization called Project Home Again (my daughter Alyssa is the Executive Director).
Hurray for giving companies!
So let's talk about this fabulous midi dress!! I'm wearing it two ways----with a faux fur vest and without.
This dress can easily transition to three seasons. I plan to wear it in the spring with sandals too!
I'm wearing super old gray suede boots. Gray is such a great color--here are some styles I like HERE (love the lower height and just $59.70!!!) and HERE.
I love the way this burgundy bag picks up the color in the dress. Similar HERE (OMG love--$47.96!!!) and HERE (splurge).
This tassel necklace keeps in line with the boho theme.
I'm sorry to say that this dress is no longer on the Soft Surroundings site, however you may be able to find it in one of their stores. I also love these dresses HERE (love the blue!) and HERE (beautiful layered or on its own). Honestly, Soft Surroundings dresses are so fabulously comfy that I want ten more!
Now here's the dress without the vest.
I may look happy, but my hand is killing me and I can't breathe through my nose.
What a day! Thank goodness for coffee, although
I spilled mine earlier (forgot to tell you that). I think I'll move on to wine.
Off to the doctor to get a hand x-ray. Please wish me luck!
XO Susan
