New York State of Mind

My last post was about the Chico's blogger event I attended a few weeks ago.  I have to admit that I had a tough time figuring out what to wear since I lost a few pounds (on an anti-cancer diet) and my clothes were swimming on me! So I took a trip over to Chic Consignment to regroup--here's what I wore.

Outfit #1 Meeting (put together by Chic) -  I wore this gorgeous velvet Haute Hippie tunic with black skinny jeans and a fun vest for the Chico's "listening session".  It was so comfortable!
For accessories, we chose a fabulous multi-strand Rebecca Minkoff chain necklace, a silver and turquoise ring and a Marc Jacobs quilted patent leather bag. Black ankle boots completed the outfit (similar here).  Similar pieces:  velvet tunic here (love the color!), vest here (on sale for under $50!), and a very inexpensive bag here (yep--under $10!).
Outfit #2--Dinner with the bloggers
This Nicole Miller Art dress from Chic has such a fun pattern and looks great with tights and boots (other bold print dresses here and here LOVE SO MUCH!).  The original plan was to wear it with the boots in outfit #3 bare-leg, but I changed my mind when I  learned we were walking 5 blocks to dinner in 20 degree weather (BRRR).
This KJL serpent necklace from Chic is AMAZING.  I love how it adds a little sparkle and plays off the colors in the dress.  More statement necklaces here (under $50), here, and if you like the serpent look here.
 Outfit #3 Dinner with Richard
My rule of thumb for traveling, is always to bring a little black dress. There's so much you can do with a simple black dress--this one is very similar with the same simple shape and straight lines. I added the fun leather/fur vest from Chic for a bit more interest and then there's the boots.....
I fell head over heels (no pun intended) with these incredible Pour La Victoire snake print boots from Chic, which are such a great contrast to the black dress! Sorry, I bought them!
Similar ankle boots here  and on sale.
To punch in some color, we added a stunning teal Atelier ostrich print clutch (from Chic).
Outfit #4--The coat!
A fabulous coat is a "must" for sightseeing in the city.
This Coach wool coat from Chic with gold buttons is classic, yet a stand-out at the same time. Similar coat here
I'm wearing Gap faux leather front leggings (I need 10 pairs of these), the same suede ankle boots and carrying the Marc Jacobs patent leather bag from Chic.

Outfit #5  Shopping
Who can resist a shopping trip (or two) when in the city?
I'm wearing the same leather leggings with a long black sweater and thick faux fur vest (similar and gorgeous!).
There's that stunning Marc Jacobs bag from Chic again

Outfit #6 Walking Soho
Richard and I love urban hikes and this outfit is perfect for poking around the city.   Because the weather was so changeable, I had three coats with me--which was a good thing since I needed all of them!
I'm wearing a leather front sweatshirt (old) with Paige high waisted jeans and knee high flat boots (similar).  A black cross body bag (love this one) is great for waling and I added a cute camo scarf  (similar here and here --both under $20) for a little interest.
This Steve Madden olive coat (very similar here) was perfect for a 40 degree day but when we left Boston, I needed my North Face coat since it was a snowy mess!

I love New York, except when Richard and I got separated at Penn Station going home and my cell phone was dead.  I can't say that was fun--horrifying actually.

XO Susan
