Chan Luu jewelry and print tote

I love Chan Luu jewelry. If you're not familiar with the line, it's got a hip and modern California flair.

I got this seed bead necklace and bracelet on sale at Nordstrom a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, they just sold out, but here are some similar pieces I really love--HERE and HERE (both reasonably priced). I also found these Chan Luu fabulous earrings for just $21.58 and these beautiful beaded earrings for just $31.19 (they're in my shopping cart!).

I'm wearing Joe's Icon ankle jeans (rolled) with a loose black 3/4 sleeve tee, similar HERE.

This fun print tote is by Steve Madden, similar HERE and HERE.

Black suede tassel sandals in a low wedge complete the look. Almost identical HERE and LOVE these too!

Boho dress

Andover

Recently I have been gravitating towards boho style clothes.

There's something casual yet chic, a little hippie, and just plain fun to this laid-back style.

This easy to wear Velvet by Graham and Spencer dress makes me happy. I love their dresses! More styles HERE HERE HERE and HERE

A denim jacket keeps things super casual. This one is from Fabrizio Gianni and it's made in the U.S.!

I feel like I should be dancing at a concert in this dress!

I paired the outfit with a cognac leather clutch, similar HERE and HERE and my blue lapis ring...love this one too. Sunglasses are by Ray Ban .

Nude suede sandals in a low wedge keep my feet happy.

Looks like my new photographer Nitin and I may just have to stop for a quick cup of coffee. I'm an addict. Ultimate Perk here we come!

My take on the "off-the-shoulder" top

casual style

I've resisted purchasing an off-the-shoulder top even though it's on-trend this season. The first reason is that I hate to wear a strapless bra. They're totally uncomfortable and never seem to stay up on me. It's not a good look to be tugging at your bra all day or for the girls to be heading south! However, I saw this striped Bobeau top and fell in love with it. So I'm giving off-the-shoulder a try. My review is at the end of this post.

I accessorized with my "go-to" tote by Juju Bagz (perfect for travel or every day!) and my Ray Ban sunglasses. Although I do own several pairs of cheap sunglasses, there is a huge difference! Ray Bans are far more comfortable and block more of the sun's harmful rays.

I did a little necklace layering with a pearls and rhinestones. Here are some others that I like HERE and HERE.

My hubby Richard took these shots while we were away for the Fourth of July weekend at The Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, Maine (my favorite place in the whole world)

The ocean breeze isn't great for the hair but it feels amazing!

I'm going to do a shoe rant now. These wedge sandals by Sofft are amazingly comfortable. As a matter of fact, so much so that I bought them in all three colors. Comfort is key these days---why torture your feet?

And now my review of the off-the-shoulder top.

So here's what I love:

The flowy feminine style--baring my shoulders even made me feel a little sexy. This style is also super cool on a hot day.

Here's what made me crazy:

I got a lot of slippage...I was constantly fixing the shoulders as it just didn't seem to stay put. It was a little annoying, but not a game changer.

The bra---ugh the bra. I must have tried on 50 strapless bras before I realized that a stretchy bandeau style was the most comfortable. Although it wasn't horrible, it wasn't great either. I didn't get a lot of support, but with a loose top you couldn't really tell.

The sun--even though I used sunscreen, my shoulders got a little burned (something I try hard to avoid these days after one bout of skin cancer). Remember, the more skin you bare, the more you are exposed to the sun.

It probably seems like I don't love this top, but I really do! But would I buy another one? Nope, one is plenty!

Denim shorts and a white tee

casual outfit

I love a summer day when I can throw on shorts and a tee.

It's a plain and simple outfit that looks easy breezy.

I actually look better in shorter length shorts versus longer walking shorts. When they're too long, my legs look droopy. I refuse to say "at my age I shouldn't be wearing anything short." Instead I wear what is the most flattering for my body.

Rolled denim shorts will allow you to cuff them at your most flattering length. Similar HERE. If you don't like to wear shorts, try a denim skirt.

You just can't have enough white tee shirts. This slightly loose tee with 3/4 length sleeves is my "go to". Find similar HERE and HERE.

White sneakers keep the look fresh and summery.

I'm hooked on Juju Bagz. They're so stylish yet super durable and practical. I also love the fabrics! Isn't this turquoise and gray stripe fabulous? This bag works well for everyday, but also makes a great beach tote!

A wrap bracelet and silver DKNY watch complete this casual look.

Stripes and fringe for the 4th

4th of July outfit

So the 4th of July is just around the corner and you might be wondering what to wear. Although I'm not doing the "flag look" this year, I do have white, blue and stripes covered! This outfit is perfect if the weather is cool or for watching the fireworks at night.

I know, I know...there isn't any red here. But you could easily add a pop of red by adding a red necklace, shoes, or bag. Ideas HERE, HERE and HERE.

Wearing a Tommy Bahama stripe sleeveless top with DL white jeans and a fabulous fringe open cardigan by Central Park West -- all from Lyn Evans (they have a fabulous on-line store as well as a chain of gorgeous boutiques in MA and CT) . I like the versatility of this outfit. I can wear each piece a zillion different ways.

This Juju Bagz metallic travel tote has become a summer staple. I love the fact that it's lightweight, roomy and goes with everything!

Flat silver sandals complete the look. More options HERE and HERE. If you want a little heel, these sandals are also fabulous and a great deal!
