Simple black shift dress

Friday, May 27, 2016

As you may know, in my "other life" I'm a social worker. I run a social service program that helps low-income families transition to self-sufficiency. Years ago I started a clothing donation program called Uncommon Threads Closet (right out of my social work office), and last week I had the honor of receiving an award for the program! Here's what I wore to the awards presentation, which was held in Falmouth, Cape Cod.

When you're unsure of the attire for an evening event, you can never go wrong with a simple black shift dress.  The nice thing about this dress is that it has just the right looseness, making it comfy and camouflaging without being too volumous (I make up my own words!). Here'a a similar dresses I like HERE.

A white clutch breaks up the black.

You could also pull in a bright color to add interest to an all black outfit.  Some ideas HERE and HERE.

I tied the white clutch in with this beaded necklace. Here are some similar ideas for you HEREHERE and HERE.

I layered the long necklace with a simple CZ shorter one. Similar styles HERE and HERE.

These black patent leather sandals by BP are fairly comfortable (as far as heels go!) and give the outfit a dressier look.

Off to receive the award!
