The Midlife Fashionista: stripes

Striped midi tank dress

I'm a big fan of stripes, especially in the summer.

I bought this dress a while back, but I found almost the exact same style for you HERE on sale for just $33.75!

I paired the dress with a white denim jacket, a summer "must-have". I like the collar up for added style. This fabulous tassel necklace is from Love and Pieces.

I bought this white clutch and love it so much that I also bought it in black too! Aviator sunnies (similar HERE) and comfy black suede wedges (similar HERE and HERE) complete the outfit.

Hope you're having an amazing summer!

This blog was shot in the beautiful town of Andover, MA (where I grew up) by the uber talented Nitin, Photos by Nitin. I'm so lucky to be working with him!

Style and interiors at The Attwater

boutique hotels

My photoshoot at The Attwater Hotel in Newport, RI was special for a few reasons. 1. Newport is such a beautiful place to spend a few days. 2. The Attwater is truly a gorgeous boutique hotel. 3. I got to work with the incredibly talented Emily O'Brien, who I adore. 4. My dear friend, interior designer extraordinaire Linda Holt came along to shoot the stunning hotel interior designed by Rachel Reider.

.
Linda is well known in the Boston area for her fabulous eye for color and design, but she is also a very talented photographer! I thought it would be fun to have Linda share her own photos of her favorite Attwater spaces. Warning...this may make you want to redecorate your home!

I asked Linda to sum up the Attwater in a few sentences. Here's what she said. "The Attwater is such a breath of fresh air, full of bright saturated colors, bold patterns on drapes and bedding, and unique ocean inspired design elements. It is a feast for the eyes for any design lover!"

Of course I have to throw in a little wearable style too...after all what would a trip to the coast be without some stripes?

Wearing a striped tee, rolled up Joe's jeans, white leather sneakers and for a punch of color a fabulous coral necklace (similar HERE).

When in Newport, go nautical. Believe it or not, the matchy-matchy tops were totally unplanned! It was a total "girlfriend moment"!

Stay tuned for more style shoots from The Attwater!

Something striped

midlife fashion

Bold stripes are "in" for spring, but when were they ever really out? Stripes are a classic that have been in style for as long as I can remember. Of course stripes can give off a nautical feel, but there is also something crisp and modern about wearing them---a little French and chic too!

If you're hesitant about incorporating stripes into your wardrobe, start slowly. Add a striped scarf to a plain tee and jeans--or accessorize a simple summer dress with a striped tote bag. I happen to love a statement piece like the trench-coat or dress (shown in gallery below). Or if you're feeling especially bold, mix stripes with a little animal print!

Here are some striped pieces I love. Click on each item for shopping details.

Have fun with your clothes!

Add a bold skirt to your wardrobe this season. My picks are black and white print, stripes

Cardigan Collection

cardigans

Who says you shouldn't have too many cardigans? A versatile layering piece, each style will give your outfit a different look. Go long and slouchy with skinny jeans and high boots...fitted and waist length with a skirt or dress, or throw on a sweater jacket in lieu of a spring coat. You can never have enough!
