Travel Clothes

I can't complain. Winter wasn't too bad this year. We only had a few snowstorms and the temperatures were tolerable. But still, I am sick of boots and winter coats! Bring on the sunshine and sandals please!

If you follow me on social media, you'll know that I was supposed to take a trip to Charleston, SC last week with another couple. But life being life, it didn't end up well. We drove and got as far as Richmond, VA when our friend started with a 103.7 fever (yikes!). Because we were all highly exposed, we decided to turn around and come home the next day. The good news is that we took out trip insurance (highly recommend!), but the bad news is that we didn't get the vacation that we had planned and looked forward to for months. Plus, this would have been my first big trip in four years. I was planning on celebrating the end of chemo in a BIG way.

In preparation for the trip, of course I did some spring clothes shopping. Although I won't be wearing these pieces in Charleston, I now have some fabulous outfits for the warmer weather that will also work well for future trips.

I tried to choose pieces that were lightweight, would mix and match, go from day to night, and didn't wrinkle. I'm typically an over-packer, so my goal was to ONLY take what I needed. Needless to say, it was an epic fail because at the last minute I started throwing more clothes and shoes in my suitcase. Next time I'll do better....maybe. 😉

First up are these super comfy lightweight wide-leg crops. They're not inexpensive, but totally worth the money! I love them so much that I bought two pairs.  They run big so I sized down. Shop here.
I paired them with my favorite Nikes,  a cropped organic cotton tee, and Target bag that can be worn two ways.

We planned to play pickleball, so I added this cute jacket from Swing Control (Code Susan20 for 20% off!) and this amazing pickleball bag from Ameliora, a woman-owned business that I adore. I can't say enough good things about the bag. It fits a ton of stuff and looks so stylish and high-end. It would also make a fabulous Mother's Day gift. Shop it here and use code Themidlifefashionista for free shipping.

Here are the crops again paired with an ecru top, another Target bag (just $18!), and my SUPER comfy Sole Bliss Sneakers ( great if you have bunions or foot issues). I'm also wearing a Julie Vos necklace.
The line is stunning and I recommend checking it out.

A jumpsuit is such an easy travel piece and this one from Athleta checks off all the boxes. It runs big so size down. I added my Franne Golde denim jacket (love!) and sneakers for a day look. Code Fashionista for 15% off at Franne Golde (fabulous line!).

And then for evening, I added a leather jacket (very similar here), boots (similar), my Patricia Nash bag, (doubles as a crossbody-code Susan10 for 10% off) and some jewelry. Easy peasy!

I found these pants at the Gap and loved them so much that I bought them in three colors!
Not only are they super lightweight and comfortable, but the drawstring bottom can be tightend for a parachute look or opened (as shown here) for trousers.

I'm also loving this tank because it has wide shoulder straps. I purchased it in a few colors--never enough tanks and tees!

Here's my evening look again, with the pants, tankleather jacket, similar boots, and Patricia Nash bag (code Susan10 for 10% off).

And more day looks with the same pants.  The sandals are the same brand but a slightly different style this season. SO comfy and under $40!

I found this jacket on Amazon and I can't recommend it enough. It's under $40 and comes in lots of colors.
I bought it in black and white, but my friend Cathy has the red and it's amazing too!

Here's the Swing Control jacket again. Code Susan20 for 20% off. It comes in black with white stripes too.

And a dressier dinner look with pants, similar boots (pricey but comfy!) and here (under $100) and the Amazon jacket in white.

I also want to show you these fabulous Swing Control pants. Although the line is sports oriented, so many of their clothes are perfect for travel and every day!  I'm also wearing their hoodie (I also have it in pink).

And these two amazing Clara Sunwoo pieces. The jumpsuit above is SOOOO comfy as is the cocoon dress below. As with all Clara Sunwoo pieces, do not size up as they're roomy!

This dress also comes in ivory.

I hope that we can reschedule our Charleston trip soon. After all, I have the outfits all set!
