Having it all

Here's one for you.

I saw this sign at Robin's Egg and the saying really resonated with me.

Take a second and imagine what your life would be like if you had everything you always wanted.

Would it really make you happy?

What is it you really need?

What is it you really want?

What does "having it all" mean to you?

Would more stuff mean more stress?

Is it better to have more---or less?

If you asked me these questions when I was much younger, I would have answered them differently than I do today, at age 54.  I used to dream of having a nicer car, expensive jewelry and a bigger house. I thought having more would make me happy.  But as I get older, it's less about the material things and more about my life's meaning.  It's about the things that really matter and can't be bought--health, family and friends. It's about being a good person, giving back and making a difference in this crazy world. Stuff is just stuff. You can't take it with you.

These days I'm all about purging versus collecting. Having too much takes up excess space in my life and makes me feel overwhelmed and overloaded--both emotionally and physically.  Getting rid of things makes me feel, lighter, freer and more content.

I find that many women my age are also feeling the same way. We're downsizing, minimizing and shifting our focus...a benefit to getting older!

So if "you had it all", where would you put it"? Or better yet, do you want it all?
Let's chat.

OK, true confessions--I'm always working on having less clothes!

P.S. I'm currently reading this book on de-cluttering and it's great!
