Armitron and Uncommon Threads

Sunday, December 17, 2017

A year ago, I took a leap of faith and left my social work job of over 20 years to launch a new non-profit called Uncommon Threads.  Uncommon Threads is an "empowerment boutique".  We use clothes and style as tools for boosting women's self-esteem.  Our clients are low-income women including domestic violence survivors, cancer patients, disabled women, female veterans, and women in recovery.  We've served over 200 clients over the past year and plan to double the number in 2018.
Uncommon Threads is a magical place. Our clients walk in feeling shy, hesitant, and unsure of themselves.
Within a few minutes, they're smiling and modeling their new clothes. A new outfit, nurturing, support and encouragement does wonder for a woman's spirt and self-confidence.
Seeking out funding is probably the hardest part of my job.
The program needs money to operate and grow. I have big plans to turn the boutique into a full-fledged "women's center" with self-esteem workshops, stress management classes, mentoring, and even internships for our clients to gain valuable work experience. But it all takes money!

So when the folks at Armitron Watches heard about Uncommon Threads, they wanted to do something special to support the program.  This amazing 60+ year old company has a heart of gold...or rose-gold should I say!
And what better way to support Uncommon Threads than to design a limited edition watch!  I bring you the Armitron Uncommon Threads watch! This rose-gold beauty boasts a Mother-of-Pearl dial and genuine Swarovski crystals on the bezel.

And on the back case is this special engraved message.
But the BEST part of this watch is that 25% of the proceeds go directly to Uncommon Threads! Now here's a holiday gift you can really feel good about giving!
How many women on your holiday list would LOVE to wear a watch that empowers women? And don't you want one for yourself too? I wear mine with pride!
You can order the Uncommon Threads Armitron watch HERE.
At just $65, it just looks expensive!
Here's to empowering women and to Armitron, a kind and giving company.
