The little pink dress

Friday, December 11, 2015

The story of the "little pink dress" (LPD) started out in Andover, MA where Cathy and I recently shot a few blogs. First stop was Helen Thomas Simply Smashing (the cutest shop!) where the owner Lisa, so graciously let me use (or rather take over) her storage room to change.

We just could not have planned the color scheme better!

Isn't the back of this dress beautiful?

"Thank you Lisa!" --now to run next door to see my stylist Helen at Robert Jason Salon for
a quick hair touch-up!

Hey guys I'm here...ready for me?" Robert Jason Salon is my "home away from home".

A tease to the crown, a few flat iron passes, a spritz of hair-spray and I'm ready to go.
Helen is a magician! My hair is super curly/frizzy so I rely on Brazilian Blowouts to tame and straighten it. If it weren't for these treatments, I'd be spending hours every day trying
to get my hair to behave.

Now off to shoot next door at Alpers Fine Art--a gorgeous gallery.

So let's talk about this Buckley K dress from Kats Boutique in Swampscott, MA (a gorgeous place to shop and so worth the trip!). I love the versatility of this dress....it's season-less so it can be worn all year round. Pair it with sandals and a white denim jacket in the summer or dress it up for a holiday party. It's perfect for just about any occasion --just tweak your accessories and shoes and you can go anyplace in this stunning dress! And the color is so amazing...you'll feel like the life of the party in hot pink! Plus as an added bonus, it's made in the U.S.A.!

For a holiday event, I paired the dress with a glitzy sequin black jacket. Between the sparkle of the jacket and the bold color of the dress, I decided to wear keep my jewelry simple by wearing only crystal earrings and my David Yurman ring.  I'm a big believer that less is more.

Black suede pumps dress things up but high suede boots would work too!

A simple black leather envelope clutch finishes off the outfit.
The painting in the background was just spectacular (as were all the pieces at Alpers!)

I know this must come as a shock to you, but I spotted a case of jewelry.
Will I be able to leave without buying something is the real question!

Party time!  Happy holidays everyone!
XO Susan
